OUR HISTORY
African Network for the protection and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Cameroon chapter was established in 2008 and authorized by the government of Cameroon in April 2009 with registration No. NW019 /E.29 /1111 / VOL.8 /APPB. ANPPCAN Cameroon came about as a result of the high level of child abuse and Neglect as a result of increase in HIV/AIDS that was noticed in Cameroon especially with the marginalized and vulnerable children.
OUR MISSION IS
To enhance, in partnership with other civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the prevention and protection of children, including children living with disabilities from all forms of maltreatment, thus ensuring that the rights of children are realized.
OUR VISION IS
To prevent and protect children from abuse and neglect through research, awareness creation, advocacy, provision of legal aid, resource mobilization and networking with government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and community members in order to promote children’s rights and welfare in Cameroon
OUR OBJECTIVES
- Provide a forum for the exchange of scientific information on the problems affecting children in Cameroon
- Ensure activities are carried out in line with the objectives of the organization.
- Generate funds and other resources for research and action in the field of Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect.
- Conduct aeriodic situation analysis on the state and nature of child abuse and neglect in Cameroon and publish the results periodically.
- Offer advice and assistance to credible Local, International bodies and organizations working in the field of children’s rights, prevention and Protection against child abuse and neglect.
- Carry out advocacy for children’s rights.
- Advice and work with the Cameroon Government to take action and other measures to improve the material and legal conditions of children, particularly, in the monitoring of the implementation of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (The African Charter) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
- ANPPCAN Cameroon not may do and undertake any work or action not specified in the above objectives but which, notwithstanding, would be useful in the fulfillment of these aims.
