School reopening for the academic year 2020/2021 in the North West and South West regions has been encouraging. This is due to the fact that some stakeholders advocated for school resumption. With this call for resumption, most parents are not able to provide basic education needs for their children. The few functional schools are mostly private schools with high school fees thus depriving the most vulnerable especially children with disability to access quality education. Parents are unable to meet up with the basic needs and especially school needs for their children. ANPPCAN Cameroon therefore provided basic materials including school bags. This scheme targeted children from two sub divisions of the North West Region i.e Bamenda I and II. The following criteria were used for the selection of beneficiaries:
1 – Pupil or student who are already enrolled in school
2 – Children who have lost one or both parents (this shall be verified from the community or the neighborhood)
3 – 60% of the beneficiaries are girls.
Participants during the event included beneficiaries, parents and guardians and well as the staff of ANPPCAN Cameroon and some executive members.
